This story takes place right after Alonso walked away.

I sat on my sleeping pad thinking about getting more sleep. Then another man came up to my area. He was young and it looked like he didn’t have a home. He layed down next to me, curled up in a ball. He was obviously cold, he only had a tattered shirt and shorts on. His name was Dameon and he asked me if that man walking away (Alonso) was my father. I told him “no I just met him, he needed a place to rest so I let him sleep on my pad.” Dameon thought that was kinda weird. He asked me what I was doing there. I told him who I was, and that I was waiting for my flight to South Africa. Then we talked about addiction, and I thought to myself man this guy is getting vulnerable. I told him about how I battled through alcohol abuse and drug abuse. He told me he was from Chicago but had come to Atlanta to get his mom off drugs. But the problem was that he ended up addicted to cocaine. He felt like there was just no way out. He didn’t know that God could bring him restoration and new life. I shared more of my story and how God has totally changed my life. He thought it was wild that God would change someone like me. He told me that 3 months ago he got shot in the chest and in the foot. The chest wound had healed but his foot was in constant pain. I offered to pray for him. And I reminded him that there is a God who loves him. He said sure why not. I prayed for him and he said it felt better. Then he asked me if I had extra pants because he was cold. I only had 1 pair of jean’s on me for my 3 month trip. So I gave it him and then I gave him a nice long sleeve shirt to help keep him warm. He was a little confused I would help him out like that since that was my only pair of pants. But I simply reminded him that he was loved and not forgotten. We then said our goodbyes and I reminded him once more that he was not alone. And that he can get help. He said to me “thanks man o really needed that.”

I hope and pray Dameon has been able to find more of God’s love. And that he will constantly be reminded that he is not alone. I want to thank you guys for your support. Because of you and your constant giving to me and this mission, I’m able to give away what I have. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.
