During my travel to Australia my squad and I submitted electronic visas for Australia during a layover in L.A. All visas were apporved but mine (Not surprised.) The flight plan was to head to Singapore then from there to Australia. Since I didn’t have a visa I got the opportunity to spend some extra time in Singapore. I’m still here in Singapore waiting to get the email from the Australian embassy telling me my visa has been approved and that I’m cleared to travel to Australia. It’s been 5 days now still no word from the embassy. I’ve learned that Singapore is probably one of the cleanest countries I’ve ever seen. The entire country is just one big city. It has beautiful skylines and amazing architecture. There are shopping malls everywhere, literally on every other corner. The corners that don’t have malls have food. That’s the big thing here food and shopping. And there are fines for everything from $400 littering fines to $500 gum chewing fines. The penalty for drugs is death. But these rules help keep the people in submission to authority. The crime here is very minimal and it seems like a very pleasant place to live.

Well I’ve traveled around the world and there are ALWAYS people in need somewhere. So yesterday my buddy Soloman and I Google searched “poor places in Singapore” we found that some of the poor live in government homes. These homes are one bedroom and there are sometimes family’s of 4, 5, 6 or more in one room. We also found a group called “Soup Kitchen Project” this group goes out once a week to feed the hungry. Yesterday we joined up with them. I was partnered with a young man named Nicolas he was 17 and was planning to join the military once he turned 18. I told him a little about me and why I was in Singapore. I told him about how I’ve been going around sharing Jesus with people all over the world. He thought it was wild to just go out and love people and have faith God would provide. And he opened up a little and told me he wanted to become a pastor one day. It was no coincidence that we were partnered together. I was able to talk with him about Jesus and how I love others. We went door to door handing out food and I was able to pray for people and love on this young man. It was great I really enjoyed our time together.

When we finished our route we met back up with the group. There were a few more bags of food that needed to get passed out. So Soloman and I joined a man named Hauk. Soloman had already been handing out food with this man. Sharing stories with him and how we walk by faith, giving love and truth along the way. He was very interested in how someone can share Jesus and love to people of different culture’s. And wondered how receptive people would be since he knew they were mainly Buddhists. We went door to door handing out food and come across a woman named Rajon. She was very kind and after giving her food I asked how she was doing. She said not well, her stomach was in pain and she didn’t feel good. I asked if I could pray for her and she said yes. She unlocked her door and let us in. We prayed for her health and proclaimed healing. When we finished she was so joyful we had prayed for her. She said her mother needed prayer too. So we prayed for her mother. And God touch her mother’s heart. I could tell because she started to cry. I know she didn’t understand English so my words meant nothing but the Holy Spirit was moving it was amazing! This woman truly felt the love of the Father. We finished praying and left. Hauk was moved from just watching us bring life, light and above all love. He has never seen Christians like us. I think Christians get a bad wrap for shoving Jesus and condemnation down peoples throats. That’s not the way to people’s hearts. I know God is working in Hauk. I’m excited and humbled that I was able to have a small part in Hauks journey with God.

I’m not with my squad in Australia and it kind of sucks. But then God reminds me that I’m right where I need to be with people like Rajan, Nicolas and Hauk. Sometimes we think we are in the wrong place and it’s totally not going according to plan. But in reality it was never our plan to begin with. So love in the moment. Be that light in the darkness. Turn an unfortunate event into victory for good. I love Singapore I’m going to miss the people I’ve met along the way. But God has a plan and I’m just along for the ride.
