Sunyani Ghana Africa

Hello friends and family this is a story of a different type of miracle that I had the honor of being a part of enjoy.

The story begins in Sunyani Ghana. Most of my squad had been suffering with malaria. Out of the 54 squad members 42 of them had malaria at some point in our trip. So there was plenty of trips to the clinic and hospitals. During my time here I was asked to be a squad leader. This position gave me a few more responsibilities. Two of my squad mates were going back home to the states. So we had to take a 8hr bus trip from Sunyani down to Accra because Accra had the nearest airport. Since the two who were traveling were women and the bus was an over night trip, I was going to travel with them.

One night I go out to buy the bus tickets. It was around 10 pm a little late for me but it was the only free time I had. After buying the bus tickets I flagged a taxi. An old station wagon pulls up with a broken headlight so I hop in. I tell the driver I’m headed to the shell gas station. We negotiate price and we head to my destination. I asked the driver if he believed in God and in Jesus he said yes I do. I said yeah I can tell by your love and joy. He was so happy to hear that, he told me he wanted to become a pastor. His name was Abraham. And he wanted to know what I was doing in Sunyani Ghana. I told him about the World Race and how my squad and I were here spreading Jesus. He loved it! I was able to pray for him on our drive. We exchanged information and we pulled up to the gas station where my hostel was. Just as we entered the driveway his car dies. I told him I’m a mechanic and to open the hood so we could hopefully get his car running. He opens the hood and we look around and see that his distributor cap is off. Fyi the distributor cap allows the spark plugs to spark. So we put it back on and try to start it. It doesn’t start so we look at the distributor cap again and it’s missing the center piece. We try and make a piece out of a clothes hanger…. It didn’t work, the car would not start. I told him lets pray, our God is bigger than anything! He can make this car work without lifting a finger. He said yeah lets do it! We prayed and tried again but still nothing. I prayed again and had him try to start it and still nothing. Abraham said not to worry he would just call his brother and they would take care of it in the morning. We said our goodbyes and I went to my guest house.

The next morning I passed by the gas station to see if his car was there and it was gone. I figured Abraham called his brother and they moved the car earlier that day. A few days go by and I’m out on the streets just talking to people about Jesus. I just finished talking to a woman about Christ. As I’m walking away I see this taxi pull over and someone steps out and yells my name. Now remember this is Africa and I don’t really know many people from Sunyani. I walk up to the driver and its Abraham. He tells me that the night when his car broke down he tried to call me but the phone wasn’t working. Then he tells me that after I had left him that night instead of calling his brother he decided to try and start his car one more time. He got in the driver seat turned the key and the car started right up! He said he hasn’t gotten it fixed yet he has just been driving it around without that vital piece! It was so awesome to hear what God has done. God was keeping his car running because We asked Him too and because He just loves Abraham. It was definitely one of the coolest miracles I’ve seen. I’m sure Abraham is still driving his “broken” car right now. It amazes me that nothing is impossible for God. Even when everything else says otherwise God has the last word. So when you feel like your all out of options and everyone tells you the same thing just remember who God is and who you are as His son or daughter. God loves us it’s just that simple.
