Because why not?

Hello everyone.

Man God is so good, thank you for your continued support. I have pictures of some of my ministry over the last month. So I’ll be putting it all in a video and I’ll post the link here. In the mean time enjoy this story 🙂

This month I was able to teach my squad about evangelism. For some people when they hear the words “go evangelize” they rather not. Fear and doubt quickly enter hearts and minds. And that’s not ok. God didn’t send Jesus to die for us so that we would return to fear. We have been given the Spirit of power, love and a sound mind. Going out and evangelizing just means go and love. Its real simple, we don’t need to complicate it.

God tells us the greatest commandments are love God with all your heart, mind and soul and love you neighbor as yourself. If you love God you will love your neighbor. If you love your neighbor, you will tell them about God. See how that works.

After giving the squad my understanding of evangelism, a bunch of us decided to go get some rotti. When we got to the rotti stand there was a very small woman begging for money. It was raining and she looked hungry. Her skin was pruned from sitting out in the rain for so long. I thought to myself what a great opportunity to practice what I preached. I only had $5. It may not seem like much but when you can live off $1 a day, $5 is not too shabby. I knew this woman needed more than just a couple dollars. She needed Jesus, she needed love. She needed someone to talk to. Everybody just walks past her like she doesn’t exist. I sat down next to her and attempted to share the Gospel. She didn’t understand English and I don’t understand Khmer. So i just sat next to her and listened to her talk. I asked her if i could pray and she nodded. When I started to pray I could see her starting to cry. I know she didn’t understand me, but she was in tears. When I finished praying we stood up and she gave me a big hug. She insisted on all of us sitting down and talking more with her. We sat down and she sat next to me and started to talk more. Then she got up and hugged each one of us. She put our hands on her head and kissed them. It was a sign of great respect and honor that only the monks receive. I hadn’t even given her any money yet. All I gave her was love. I just listened to her. I looked into her eyes and cared for her. Because she was royalty even if she didn’t know that yet. She kept sitting next to us and hugging us tightly, then she would talk about her life. Then she would get up and hug us some more. She told us she wanted us to stay with her for longer but we had to head back home. As we said our goodbyes I gave her the $5. I could see in her eyes that the money was no longer important. But the gift of our time, love and above all Jesus was more than she ever expected.

I hope to see my friend again before I leave Cambodia. But many times you only meet people once. That’s it you get one chance. Only one chance to love someone like Jesus. Only one chance to change someone’s life. I’ve learned not to waste it. Because who knows, we may be the only part of Jesus some people will ever see. I’m not gonna miss that chance and neither should you. Whatever your doing today stop and love somebody. It doesn’t matter who it is. We all need love. We all want to be heard. We all want to be seen. We all need Jesus. Be that change today church. Because we are not promised tomorrow and our lives are but a vapor. So love, that’s all there is to it. It’s simple, it’s love. It always has been and it always will be.

Thank you, God bless you.

  4. Thank you so much Kirk. It has been a blessing to love and disciple those who God has entrusted me with. I’ll let my Dad know next time I speak with him.

  5. Hey Luis, blessings from California. It’s been awesome to follow your journey since that day came to the house for our young adults get-together before you went on the race. You are a great example and mentor to those the Lord has entrusted to you. Greet your dad for us when you talk to him. Praying the Lords protection over you and that you many more opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
